Keto game day
Game day food is wings, dips, chili and beer, and most of it can be keto. Bring a dish you can make a meal of, know which wings to pick, and choose your beer before kickoff.
The game plan
- Bring at least one dish that works as a full meal for you.
- Load your plate once at the start: wings, meat, vegetables and dip.
- Choose bone-in wings with buffalo sauce or a dry rub.
- Decide your drink before you arrive: ultra-low-carb beer, hard seltzer or a spirit and soda.
- Park yourself away from the chip bowl.
Go for
- Bone-in wings, buffalo or dry rub
Skip boneless (breaded) and sweet sauces. - Veggie tray with ranch or blue cheese
Celery, cucumber, peppers, broccoli. - Meat and cheese board
Salami, pepperoni, cheddar, olives. - Buffalo chicken or spinach dip
Dip with celery or pork rinds. - Pulled pork or brisket, no bun
Sauce on the side. - Deviled eggs
Always a safe bet.
Pass on
- Chips, nachos and pretzels
Use pork rinds or cucumber for dip. - Sliders and pigs in a blanket
Eat the fillings, leave the bread. - Chili with beans
A small cup is moderate; beanless chili is better. - Regular beer by the pitcher
About 13 g a can.
What to say
“I brought the buffalo chicken dip, so dig in.”
Pack this
- Your dish
- Celery and pork rinds for dipping
- Ultra-low-carb beer or hard seltzer if it is BYOB

Quick answers
What is the best keto beer for game day?
Ultra-low-carb beers at about 2 to 3 g a can, or hard seltzer. Light beer is lower than regular beer but not free, so count it.
Are wings keto?
Bone-in wings with buffalo sauce, a dry rub or garlic parmesan usually are. Boneless wings are breaded, and honey, BBQ and teriyaki sauces are mostly sugar.
