Your label, in order
Red counts in full. Amber counts partly or needs a look. Green is fiber, a zero-carb sweetener or not a carb concern. Uncolored items are ordinary foods the decoder does not flag.

How to read any label
- Ignore the front of the box. Read the ingredients.
- Check the first three: they are the biggest by weight.
- Count the sugar names. Three small sugars can add up to the biggest ingredient.
- Look up anything ending in “-ose,” “-itol,” “syrup” or “malt.”
- Then check the nutrition panel with the net carb calculator.
General nutrition information, not medical advice. Formulas change and the decoder matches words, not quantities, so check the nutrition panel as well. If you manage diabetes or take medication that affects blood sugar, ask your doctor how to count these ingredients.
Questions
Is anything I paste saved or sent?
No. The decoder runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is stored or uploaded.
Why does order matter?
Ingredients are listed by weight, from most to least. A sugar or starch in the first three usually means it is a large part of the product.
Can I trust the net carbs on the front of the box?
Treat them as a claim, not a fact. “Net carbs” is not defined by US regulators, and brands decide what to subtract. The ingredient list tells you whether that math is generous.
It missed an ingredient. Why?
The dictionary covers 54 hidden-carb ingredients and 483 label spellings. Ordinary foods (nuts, cheese, spices, oils) are shown but not flagged. If something is missing, send it through the contact page.
