Is inulin keto?

Keto-friendlyFiber: subtract it

Yes. A fiber from chicory root or agave that feeds gut bacteria and has little effect on blood sugar. It can cause bloating.

What it is

Inulin and oligofructose are plant fibers, usually from chicory root or agave, used to add sweetness, body and fiber to low-sugar foods. They pass to the gut, where bacteria ferment them, so they are subtracted as fiber.

That fermentation is also why some people get gas and bloating from inulin-heavy bars and drinks. “Agave inulin” is a fiber; agave syrup is a sugar.

How to count it

It is fiber, so subtract it from total carbs like any other fiber.

Mostly not digested, so they are subtracted from total carbs. A couple are debated.
