Hidden carbs / Zero-carb sweetener

Is sucralose keto?

Keto-friendlyNo carbs

Yes. A zero-calorie sweetener about 600 times sweeter than sugar. The pure sweetener has no carbs; the powdered versions are bulked with carbs.

What it is

Sucralose is made from sugar but is not digested as sugar, and it adds no carbs. It is so sweet that powdered products need a bulking agent, usually dextrose or maltodextrin.

That bulking agent adds just under a gram of carbs per packet (labeled zero because it is under a gram) and about half a gram per teaspoon of granulated sweetener. It adds up in baking. Liquid sucralose has none.

How to count it

Adds no meaningful carbs on its own.

No carbs themselves, though packets are often bulked with dextrose.
