Keto Espresso Martini

Coffee liqueur is the sugar trap in a standard espresso martini. Swap it for fresh espresso and a little sugar-free vanilla syrup, shake hard, and you get the same velvety foam and a deep, bittersweet kick without the sugar crash.

Method

  1. Chill a martini glass in the freezer.
  2. Add the vodka, espresso, vanilla syrup, cream and a generous scoop of ice to a cocktail shaker.
  3. Shake hard for 15 to 20 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
  4. Strain into the chilled glass and float three coffee beans on the foam.

Chef’s notes

  • Fresh, hot espresso cooled quickly produces the best foam. Strong cold-brew concentrate also works.
  • Skip the cream for a classic, crisper version.
